The Content Calendar shows the cadence of your content planning in one view: which campaigns are live and how many shares are published or scheduled on each day. Use it to spot gaps in your planning and to check how evenly your advocates' shares are spread over time.
This article is for managers working in Manage. The Content Calendar is included in the Essential, Premium and Enterprise plans.
Open the Content Calendar
In Manage, go to Content → Content Strategy → Content Calendar.
Click Week or Month to switch views. Use the arrows to move to the previous or next period, and click Today to jump back to the current date.
Open Understanding Your Calendar for a short explanation of the bars and pills.
What the calendar shows
Campaign bars: horizontal bars show how long each campaign runs, with the campaign name on the bar. A campaign without a finish date is shown for 4 days after publication and then fades out on the right.
Share pills: small green pills show the number of social media shares that were published or are scheduled on that day. The color shows how high that day's volume is compared to the other days in the current view, not an absolute number.
Spot gaps in your planning
Days without a campaign bar: no campaign started in the days before. Campaigns without a finish date are only shown for 4 days, so they can still be live. If advocates have nothing new to share on those days, schedule a campaign for them.
Days without a share pill, or with a pale pill: few or no shares went out. Open the campaigns that were live on those days in Content → Campaigns → All Campaigns and check their finish date and audience.
A few very dark pills next to empty days: share volume comes in bursts. Spread campaigns over the week to keep a steady flow.
Future days: only shares that advocates have already scheduled are counted, so future days usually look paler than past days. Judge share gaps on past days, and use the campaign bars for the days ahead.
As a rule of thumb, publish a new campaign at least every two weeks. Programs with repeated gaps of more than two weeks between campaigns get lower results than programs with a steady cadence.
Good to know
The calendar is an overview. To create, schedule or change a campaign, go to Content → Campaigns → All Campaigns.
Share pill colors are relative to the current view, so the same number of shares can have a different color in another view.
Scheduled shares are counted on the day they are scheduled for.
The calendar fills automatically from your campaigns and shares; there is nothing to set up.
The calendar has no filters. Clicking a campaign bar does not open the campaign.
