In the Premium and Enterprise Plan, it's possible to share content on Google Business Profiles (formerly known as Google My Business). When this channel is enabled, your members will be able to connect their Google Businesses to Ambassify and post updates on their Google listing straight from an Ambassify sharing campaign.

What types of updates can you share?

  • Single image and text (+ clickable URL)

  • Multiple images and text

  • Video and text

Note: When you provide a single image you have the option to add a clickable URL which directs to your website for example. Google Business does not support displaying multiple images or video, so the resulting share will instead be a link to an Ambassify landing page where visitors can view the album or video. In this case it's not possible to add a separate URL. This is identical to how it works when users share this an image album or a video on their personal Facebook profile.

In this article, we'll explain how you can share an update containing an image, text and URL.

Sharing a Google Business Update containing a URL

First of all, in the campaign builder, you can start by adding the URL to the article that you want to link to the Google Business update, and start creating a Share campaign. In this example we'll use a blog article.

Ambassify will pre-fill basic campaign elements such as campaign visual, title and description, based on the data that can be retrieved from the URL. You can of course still edit this. Next, in the networks to share on section, you can select Google Business.

The content to share section contains the URL and the image that will be used to create the Google Business update.

Via the Google API you can only share a link (URL) and a single image. When you upload multiple images, a notification in Ambassify will inform you that this is not supported and only the first image will be shared. When you upload a video file, you'll get a message telling you that video is not supported. When you ignore the warning message and upload a video file, then only the text will be shared on Google. These are some current limitations compared to creating an update directly on your Google Business Profile.

You can use the share message, to add text to your Google Business update. Your campaign is now ready to be published, after you've targeted it to the right audience.

On the frontend, the Google Business share-button will appear, similar to any other share channel in Ambassify.

The first time a user wants to share, they will have to connect their Google Business to Ambassify. After following the Google wizard, and enabling the desired profile, the window can be closed. Note that it is possible to connect multiple Google Business profiles, as well as to share on multiple profiles at once. This works similar to sharing on multiple LinkedIn Pages of Facebook Pages.

When clicking the Google Business share-button, the API share screen appears and you can choose to share now, schedule your share or use the smart schedule tool.

After the update has been shared, it will appear in the updates section of your Google Business Profile.

When you click on the update, the update detail shows, containing the image, text (share message) and a "learn more" button, behind which the URL to the blog article is added. Clicking on the button brings you directly to the external link.
