What permissions do you give when connecting your LinkedIn profile

A great advantage of Ambassify's API-share feature, is that you're able to seamlessly connect your social network accounts to your Ambassify account. This allows you to directly share or interact with campaigns without leaving the interface.

In this article, we'll dive into the data permissions of LinkedIn. During the process of connecting your personal LinkedIn profile to your Ambassify account, you'll see a message indicating that the Ambassify App would like to:

Use the primary email address associated with your LinkedIn account

This permission isn’t required for sharing campaigns, but it remains from when users could only connect their LinkedIn account to log in to Ambassify. It may be removed in the future.


Create, modify, and delete posts, comments, and reactions on your organization’s behalf

Ambassify uses this permission to publish posts on your company’s LinkedIn page when users take part in a share campaign or create a personal post.


Retrieve your posts and their reporting data

This permission allows Ambassify to collect engagement metrics such as impressions, reactions, and comment counts. These metrics are used to report on the performance of shared posts.


Use your basic profile (name, photo, headline, and public profile URL)

This is a standard LinkedIn permission. Ambassify uses it to display your LinkedIn name and profile picture within the platform, for example, on share buttons or in your account settings, so you can verify that you connected the correct LinkedIn account.


Retrieve your organization’s pages and their reporting data

Ambassify uses this permission to gather engagement metrics (impressions, reactions, comment counts, etc.) about users' shares on the company page.


Create, modify, and delete posts, comments, and reactions on your behalf

Ambassify uses this permission to create posts on your personal LinkedIn profile when you participate in a share campaign or create a Personal Post.


Retrieve the number of first-degree connections within your network

This information is used to estimate the potential reach of shared content.

These are additional permissions for admins who connect through manage:

Use your followers’ data so your organization can mention them in posts

This permission allows Ambassify admins to search for LinkedIn users to mention in default share messages.


Retrieve your organization’s posts, comments, reactions, and other engagement data

This is used to import posts and engagement data from connected company pages so that Ambassify can display and analyze them within the platform.


Manage your organization’s pages and retrieve reporting data

This permission ensures Ambassify can maintain the connection to your company pages and keep all data, such as posts and analytics, up to date.
